There are plenty of excellent restaurants opening everywhere, all the time. And if you’re in Gauteng, you’re in for a treat. There are so many world class, top quality restaurants in this South African province.
There are also many new spots opening all the time. They are all crying out to be visited and reviewed. Here is our roundup of some of the new spots we’d love to try in and around Johannesburg.
Rafael’s Food Emporium. We couldn’t wait to try out this hip new spot in Maboneng when we first heard about it. It is a unique combination of supermarket, selling a selection of goodies, and pizzeria. The restaurant area is outside, in the courtyard. A wood burning pizza oven and a few tables and chairs make it a comfy spot to relax and tuck into their thin crust pizza.
Three Ducks Bistro. This eatery recently opened its doors in Waterkloof, Pretoria. It is owned by the same people who own L’épis Doré in Menlo Park. It describes itself as “comfy and casual” and serves “bistro fare”. This is definitely a spot we’d love to try. “A truly plush set up – it’s expected that L’Opulence will put refined tapas dining on the Johannesburg culinary map,” say the owners.
Mr Big Stuff. Quirky branding and a menu filled with delicious treats catch the eye immediately at this fun new spot in Braamfontein. It’s a burger joint and diner with menu items like fried chicken and waffles, a mac and cheese burger and other delicious sounding, bad for the waistline treats.
Chef and the Fatman. Worth a visit for its quirky name, this Randburg restaurant has opened in a new location so the whole family can be entertained. the food here is family friendly with burgers, pizzas, seafood and steak on the menu.
L’Opulence. Situated in the heart of Sandton in Nelson Mandela Square, this new eatery is all about day time meetings and night time finery. Patrons there can expect wine, tapas, exceptional service and a luxurious experience.
If you’re planning to visit or moving to Gauteng soon you should definitely visit at least one of these restaurants. Maybe your dream is to work hospitality or security jobs in Gauteng. So, if you are going to the City of Gold and if you enjoy taking your time over a delicious plate of food, look no further. This is the list for you!
